Water Damage Repair in Oxnard, CA
Stained, soft, or bulging drywall from a leak — cut out, replaced, and repainted to match.
A slow roof leak, an overflowing bathroom, or a burst supply line under a sink all leave the same kind of mess behind — stained, soft, or bulging drywall that needs to come out before it gets worse. Once the actual source of the water is fixed (usually by a plumber or roofer), we cut out the damaged section, replace it, texture-match it to the surrounding wall or ceiling, and repaint so it disappears back into the room.
Signs You Have Water Damage
- Brown or yellow staining on a ceiling or wall
- Drywall that feels soft, spongy, or bulges when pressed
- Peeling or bubbling paint with no other obvious cause
- A musty smell near a wall or ceiling with no visible source
Our Process
- Confirm the leak is fixed. We won't rebuild over an active leak — if it's not resolved, we'll tell you before starting.
- Remove damaged material. Cut out soft or stained drywall back to solid material.
- Let it dry. If moisture is still present in the area, we let it dry out fully first.
- Rebuild. New drywall, taped, mudded, sanded, and texture-matched.
- Repaint. Primed and painted to match the surrounding wall or ceiling.
What Affects the Cost
Size of the damaged area, whether it's a wall or a ceiling (ceilings take more prep to work on safely), how much texture-matching is needed, and whether the surrounding paint needs a full wall repaint or just a spot touch-up to blend.
Why Coast To Coast Painting
We handle the repair and the repaint as one job, so you're not coordinating two different contractors for a single water stain. Licensed #1116757, bonded and insured.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the water leak fixed before you repair the drywall?
That needs to happen first, and it's usually a plumber's or roofer's job, not ours. Once the source of the leak is fixed, we handle removing the damaged drywall, drying out the area if needed, and rebuilding and repainting it.
How do I know if water-damaged drywall needs to be replaced or can be repaired?
Soft, crumbling, or bulging drywall needs to be cut out and replaced — patching over it just traps moisture. Surface staining without softness can sometimes be sealed and repainted, but we'll check it in person before recommending either.
Can water damage lead to mold?
It can, especially if the area stayed wet for more than a day or two. If we see signs of mold during a repair, we'll flag it — significant mold remediation is outside our scope and needs a specialist, but minor surface mold on drywall we're already removing is handled as part of the repair.
